Steve Pennell, the DTCI Immediate-Past President, is a partner in the Lafayette firm of Stuart & Branigin where he focuses his practice on insurance law and product liability. Steve is active in the DRI and served as the Indiana State Representative to DRI from 1998-2000. He is a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and serves as vice-chair of the Litigation Section for the ISBA. A member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Coif, Steve was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Prize Award in 1976 and Note Editor of the Indiana Law Journal.

Ms. Wendling is a Business Litigation and Labor and Employment paralegal with the law firm Locke Reynolds LLP. Having practiced as a paralegal for over 13 years, she has also worked in other areas of law including litigation, immigration, insurance defense, medical malpractice and product liability. Beth graduated with highest honors from the CSS College of Business in Dallas, Texas, with an Associates in Paralegal Studies. She is a member of the Indiana Paralegal Association (“IPA”) for which she served three consecutive terms on the Board of Directors, one as Vice President. She has served on various IPA committees including Pro Bono and Continuing Legal Education, and was a representative to the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (“NFPA”). Beth was the recipient of IPA%20s 2000-2001 Outstanding New Member award and in 2002 and was selected to attend the NFPA Leadership Conference. Beth has also been a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s (“IBA”) Executive Paralegal Committee since 2000, for which she served as chair for the 2004-2005 term, now serving as Immediate Past Chair. She is currently serving as District Representative to NFPA’s Strategic Planning Committee. Additionally, Beth volunteers for the Protective Order Pro Bono Project, Heartland Pro Bono Council’s Advanced Directives and IBA’s Ask-A-Lawyer events.

Matthew R. King concentrates his practice in products liability and general defense litigation. He has worked with manufacturers of automobiles, motorcycles, personal watercraft, seatbelts, commercial machinery, power tools, heat patches, as well as other products. Mr. King also has experience in premises liability defense litigation.
In 2005, Mr. King presented "Kocher v. Getz: Mitigation of Damages," a lecture on the impact of the Indiana Supreme Court%20s clarification of the mitigation of damages defense in the comparative fault act, at the DTCI 12th Annual Conference & Meeting in Bloomington, Indiana. Mr. King is a member of DRI and DTCI. He is also a member of the Sagamore American Inn of Court and the Indiana and Indianapolis Bar Associations.
Mr. King received his B.A. in English, cum laude , Phi Beta Kappa, from The College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio, in 2000, and his J.D., cum laude , from the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, Indiana, in 2003.
