Tom Bodkin received his B.S. from the Indiana University School of Business and his J.D. cum laude from Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis, and later served as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana. He is a partner in the Evansville firm of Bamberger, Foreman, Oswald & Hahn, L.L.P., which has offices in Indianapolis, Princeton, and Mount Vernon. Tom concentrates his work in health law and insurance coverage. He is a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, the DRI, and the International Association of Defense Counsel, and is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Tom is the recipient of the 1997 Diplomat of the Indiana Defense Trial Counsel Award.

Kevin C. Schiferl, the DTCI treasurer, is a partner with the Indianapolis firm of Locke Reynolds, L.L.P. His undergraduate degree was taken at Purdue University and his J.D. at Indiana University-Bloomington. His practice focuses on the defense of personal injury litigation, with specific focus in claims involving product liability and professional malpractice assertions.
Kevin has long been active in DTCI, having chaired the first Rookie Seminar in 1995 and having served on its board for five years. He is the immediate past chair of DRI’s Trial Tactics Committee (having received the DRI Leadership Award for his work) and is also involved in DRI’s Product Liability Committee. In 1999, he was the first recipient of the DTCI Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel.
He lives in Zionsville with wife Carolyn and their two children and is active in local community, school, and church activities.

Steve Pennell, the DTCI Immediate-Past President, is a partner in the Lafayette firm of Stuart & Branigin where he focuses his practice on insurance law and product liability. Steve is active in the DRI and served as the Indiana State Representative to DRI from 1998-2000. He is a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and serves as vice-chair of the Litigation Section for the ISBA.
A member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Coif, Steve was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Prize Award in 1976 and Note Editor of the Indiana Law Journal.

Bob Parker, the 2003 DTCI President, is a partner in the Merrillville firm of Burke, Costanza & Cuppy. He has served the Indiana State Bar in the following capacities: chair of the Young Lawyers Section, and member of the Board of Managers, the Long Range Planning Committee, the Special Committee on Professionalism, the Lawyer Certification Committee, and Counsel to the President. Bob also received the First Place Award in the 1996 ISBA Harrison Legal Writing Contest and was the joint recipient of the DTCI 1997 Defense Lawyer of the Year award. Bob currently chairs the Long Range Planning Committee of DTCI.

In Memory of: Immediate Past-President Joan Irick. Joan was a partner in the Indianapolis firm of Kightlinger & Gray where she concentrated her practice in professional liability, trucking law, toxic tort litigation, and head injuries.
Joan was active in numerous national organizations. In 2002, she was chosen the first woman, and first Hoosier, president-elect of the International Association of Defense Counsel. Prior to that she served on the executive committee of the IADC where she had been named a facilitator to study product development. She was an active participant in Indiana and national seminars, speaking at or moderating dozens of civil trial seminars during the last decade.
